The Process

Step by Step

Step 1

Selecting Premium Suet

Every batch begins with carefully selected beef suet, the nutrient-rich fat that surrounds the kidneys. This is the highest quality fat for creating exceptionally pure tallow. We inspect and trim each piece by hand before rendering begins.

Step 2

Hand Cutting

The suet is hand-cut into smaller pieces. This allows it to render slowly and evenly while preserving the natural nutrients that make tallow so nourishing for skin.

Step 3

Grinding for an Even Render

After cutting, the suet is ground into smaller pieces. Increasing the surface area helps the fat melt gently and efficiently, creating a cleaner, more consistent render.

Step 4

Slow Rendering

The ground suet is slowly heated over low temperatures. This patient process allows the pure oils to separate from connective tissue without scorching or damaging the delicate fats.

Step 5

First Filtration

Once rendered, the liquid tallow is poured through fine filters to remove any remaining solids. This step produces a beautifully clean golden tallow while leaving impurities behind.

Step 6

Purifying Again

Quality takes time. We filter our tallow multiple times to create a silky, refined base that's clean enough for skincare while retaining its naturally beneficial nutrients.

Step 7

Cooling & Solidifying

As the purified tallow cools, it transforms into a smooth, creamy solid. This is the foundation of every balm we make.
